| Ed Pechous serves as an Adjunct Staff Member
of the Operational Evaluation Division at the Institute for Defense
Analyses (IDA) in Alexandria, Virginia, USA. He joined IDA in 1995
after a distinguished career in the US Foreign Service.
Mr. Pechous served in a variety of positions within
the US Foreign Service beginning in 1962. His responsibilities
included assignments in many countries in South Asia, Africa, and
Europe.
He earned a B.A. in History from the University of
Illinois in1956, and an M.A. in History/Political Science from the
University of Illinois in 1956. He completed additional post-MA
work in Economic History from 1959 to 1961.
He serves as a member of the American Historical
Association, and has served as a Panel Contributor to Council on
Foreign Relations since 1995. Among his publications (limited
