INSTITUTIONALIZING THE PREVENTION OF CORRUPTION IN SECURITY FORCES: ENHANCING PREVENTIVE STRUCTURES
 
Ed Pechous serves as an Adjunct Staff Member of the Operational Evaluation Division at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) in Alexandria, Virginia, USA. He joined IDA in 1995 after a distinguished career in the US Foreign Service.

Mr. Pechous served in a variety of positions within the US Foreign Service beginning in 1962. His responsibilities included assignments in many countries in South Asia, Africa, and Europe.

He earned a B.A. in History from the University of Illinois in1956, and an M.A. in History/Political Science from the University of Illinois in 1956. He completed additional post-MA work in Economic History from 1959 to 1961.

He serves as a member of the American Historical Association, and has served as a Panel Contributor to Council on Foreign Relations since 1995. Among his publications (limited distribution) are:
