Coalition 2000 - Drafting/Implementing a Comprehensive Anti-Corruption
Action Plan

  • Formation of expert task forces and coordination of their activities
  • Developing a draft action plan
  • Consensus building and cooperation with policy-makers
  • Action Plan endorsement

The development and implementation of Coalition 2000's Anti-corruption Action Plan will be presented. Participants will be encouraged to discuss how international experience can be applied in their countries. Coalition 2000's Corruption Assessment Reports, Clean Future Bulletin, Anticorruption Plan for Bulgaria and other relevant documents will be provided.

Thursday, October 3: Horizontal Accountability - the Bulgarian Experience
   
9:00 am Site Visit I: Government Anti-Corruption Commission
Presentation of Bulgarian national anti-corruption strategy, corruption prevention policies, and combating corruption in customs. Introductory lecture followed by interactive discussion.
Host: Anton Stankov, Bulgarian Minister of Justice
   
10:00 am Site Visit II: City of Sofia Ombudsman (held at Bulgarian Ministry of Justice)
   
11:00 am Site Visit III: Bulgarian National Audit Office
Presentation of NAO operations, and law enforcement/anti-corruption activities. Introductory lecture followed by an interactive discussion. Participants will be provided with relevant documents, and time will be available for networking and exchanging experience.

Synthesis Panel
Breakout groups will discuss lessons learned and next steps for combating corruption in participant countries. Additional discussion topics could include:

  • Key role of the business community
  • Building a partnership between South Eastern Europe and the Caucasus
