Since 2001, the cutting edge criminological research, conducted within the Program, has shaped Bulgaria’s policy debate on organised crime. The Program experts have also participated in various international projects and networks on crime and security issues.The majority of those projects have been awarded or supported by the European Commission in particular - Directorate General “Home Affairs” and they have been of a great importance not only because of their scope (the research usually covers all 27 EU member states) but also because they have been an integral part of the pan-European cycle of policies to combat organized crime. In addition, the Security Program works closely with the other CSD’s programs in providing cross-disciplinary analysis on policy issues such as migration, corruption, grey economy, criminal justice, and human rights.
