Second Local Ombudsman Round Table: The Institution Local Public Mediator: Mechanism for Human Rights Protection and Curbing Corruption
On March 12, 2004 the Second Local Ombudsman Round Table was held in Sofia. It was organized jointly by Coalition 2000 and the Center for the Study of Democracy and focused on the experience and the best practices of the local public mediators as a mechanism to protect human rights and to combat corruption. more »

On March 9, 2004 the World Bank office in Bulgaria and the Center for the Study of Democracy organized the fourth videoconference of the GDLN Dialogue Series on Governance for Young Leaders in Eastern European Countries. Award ceremony for best journalistic materials on cases of corruption
On March 4, 2004 Coalition 2000 announced the 2004 awards for best journalistic materials covering cases of corruption published or broadcast in Bulgarian media during 2003. The ceremony took place at the American Center in Sofia. more »
 
Assets Seizure in Europe: Legislative and Operational Instrument to Counter Corruption and Organized Crime
Experts from Ireland, France, Spain and Bulgaria debated on the role of assets seizure to counter corruption and organized crime in Bulgaria and Europe at a round table on March 2, 2004. The discussion aimed to present the foreign experience in implementing assets forfeiture mechanisms and to discuss the latest version of the Bulgarian Draft Law on the Forfeiture of Criminal Assets. more »

Working meeting: Introduction of anticorruption education in secondary schools
On February 19, 2004, the first expert group meeting on anticorruption education in secondary schools took place at the Center for the Study of Democracy. The expert group was established in the framework of Coalition 2000’s program for prevention and fight against corruption through the introduction of anticorruption education at all levels in the Bulgarian educational system. more »
