| Cyber-festival for school children in Sofia |

 On 4 November 2008 a 5-day computer festival for school children opened officially in the framework of the annual BAIT EXPO exhibition of information technologies. The event was organized by the Bulgarian INSAFE awareness node and Sofia Municipality with the cooperation of the Bulgarian Association for Information Technologies (BAIT), the State Agency for Child Protection, non-governmental organizations, Microsoft-Bulgaria and other IT companies.
 At the opening ceremony some 200 pupils and their teachers from various schools in Sofia were addressed by the Chairman of the Board of BAIT Mr. Boyan Boychev, Mrs. Irena Dimitrova from Sofia Municipality and Ms. Eva Golovinska from the State Agency for Child Protection. The program of the festival ‘My friend the computer” started with a fire show.
 Every day whole classes with their teachers visited the festival site. They could see the exhibition of children’s drawings for the competition “Me and my parents in Internet” organized by the children’s portal website Az-deteto.com, watch presentations on the risks for children in Internet produced by school pupils. Every day the documentary “I’m surfing safe” produced in the framework of a 6-month safer Internet awareness campaign by Microsoft-Bulgaria, Az-deteto.com and the Bulgarian Awareness node was shown to the visiting children. Quizzes with questions about computers, Internet, safer Internet rules provided the opportunity to win prizes to dozens of children. Leaflets, calendars, stickers and many other awareness materials were available at the stands of the festival.
 In a special game-zone the children played games without violence produced by the State Agency for Child Protection following ideas from schools children. The Bulgarian Federation for Electronic Sport – partner in the Awareness node consortium, coordinated by the Applied Research and Communications Fund – organized Cyber Championship Bulgaria 2008 providing the participants to win bonus scores for the qualifications for the European Championship for computer games.
Several distributors of computer games demonstrated the latest games and game consoles on the market.
