International Conference

On March 10, 2003 the Center for the Study of
Democracy jointly with the National Initiative Committee,
established by Bulgarian dignitaries under the honorary
chairmanship of the President of the Republic Georgi Parvanov,
organized an international conference on "Diversity and
Democracy: the Legacy of Tolerance".
The conference was part of a series of events
organized by the National Initiative Committee to commemorate the
60-th anniversary of the historic rescue of the Bulgarian Jews from
the Holocaust in 1943. It provided a platform for Bulgarian and
foreign politicians and dignitaries to send a message of support
for the values of solidarity, tolerance and democracy in an
increasingly interdependent world.
