Troyan, October 30, 2002
On October 30, 2002 in the town of Troyan an Information Day for popularization of the Ombudsman Institution and the possibilities
for its establishment in Bulgaria was held. It was organized jointly by the Center for the Study of Democracy and the Znanie Association - Lovech. Mr. Hristo Ormandjiev, Veliko Tarnovo Municipality Anti-corruption Ombudsman, and Mr. Svetoslav Georgiev and Ms. Krassimira Natan, experts of the Sofia Municipality Civic Mediator introduced the foreign experience and legislation, as well as their work. Specific facts were presented, concerning the number of the filed complaints, the given consultations and recommendations by the civic mediator, the number of the solved cases, the relations with the administration.
Ms. Valentina Alexandrova, municipal counsellor, expressed
the intention of the Municipal Council to introduce the Ombudsman
Institution in Troyan Municipality. In regard with this she asked
certain questions, connected with the financing and independence of
the ombudsman, the election and required qualifications of the
candidate, the necessary regulations and the status of the civic
mediator.
Municipal counsellors, representatives of the District Court and
the Municipality, representatives of the Democratic Union of Women
and the Home for children without parents, media, citizens took
part in the event. |
