Anti-Corruption Strategy for Armenia
 

 

 
In the period 17-26 February 2001, Coalition 2000 hosted a one week anti-corruption study tour for officials of the Government of Armenia, members of the National Assembly and key NGOs working in the field of civil society and the rule of law. The tour was organized within a joint project of Management Systems International, Coalition 2000, the US Academy for Educational Development and it is sponsored by the USAID. The study tour was aimed at supporting the launch of a national anti-corruption program for Armenia and to share Coalition 2000's accomplishments in coalition building, public-private partnership and regional anti-corruption cooperation.

The study tour Program prepared by Coalition 2000 included lectures, training sessions, visits to state institutions and municipalities and meetings with Coalition 2000 partners. The following major issues were studied.

  • Drafting and implementing the Anti-Corruption Action Plan
  • Corruption Monitoring System
  • Legislative framework of anti-corruption policy: reform of the Judiciary
  • Role of the National Audit Office
  • Regional/municipal anti-corruption programs
  • Combating corruption in the economy
  • Coordination with international anti-corruption efforts.

A follow-up seminar will take place in Armenia with the participation of Coalition 2000 experts.
