On June 8 - 9, 2000, the Chief Parliamentary
Ombudsman of Sweden Mr. Klaes Eklundh visited Sofia for a second time.
During his stay here he had a series of talks with state
institutions' representatives on launching the ombudsman institution in Bulgaria, including the Council of Ministers, the Presidency, the Chairman of the National Assembly Mr. Yordan
Sokolov. Mr. Eklundh also participated in a discussion on the Draft Law on the People's Defender and the Civic Mediators, prepared by the expert group to the Center for the Study of Democracy.
Prior to his departure he gave a press conference for Bulgarian journalists on the issues regarding the establishment of the ombudsman institution in Bulgaria. |
