| Workshops: Feasibility of establishing a European platform to prevent and fight undeclared work

 On 4 and 11 May 2010 the Center for the Study of Democracy and Regioplan – a Dutch research institute, organized two workshops to examine the feasibility of establishing a European platform for preventing and combating undeclared work. Representatives of Ministries of Labour and Social Policy and Ministries of Finance, labor inspectors, research institutes, trade unions and employers' organizations from Central, Southern and Eastern Europe - EU Member States, participated in the workshops. They discussed the differences in institutional frameworks and methods of inspection in their countries, existing policy measures to combat undeclared work, best practices for cross-border cooperation and difficulties that the enforcement bodies at national and international level encounter in this regard. After carrying our similar seminars for Western and Northern Europe, the organizers will summarize in a report to the European Commission the opinions and recommendations of the EU-27 participants for the creation of a European platform for preventing and combating undeclared work.
