On January 18, 2001, the Regional Association "Ombudsman" - Stara Zagora arranged a presentation of the organization, of its goals and activities. It is a recently established, non-profit association that will take care of citizen's complaints. It intends to play the role of a mediator in conflicts between citizens and administration.
Association "Ombudsman" is realizing its intermediary activity with the support of the voluntary cooperation of members of the local lawyer community. Framework agreements, which would serve as a basis of the intermediary activity, were signed with some departments of the local administration and state enterprises that offer daily and communal services. After the press conference there was a meeting with representatives of the Municipal Council, the District Court and local administration in Stara Zagora. Konstantin Tanev, expert at the Law Program of the Center for the Study of Democracy, presented the Draft Law on the Ombudsman Institution for Bulgaria.
