On the occasion of the International Anticorruption Day, on 9 December 2010 the Center for the Study of Democracy was invited to present its report entitled Examining the Links between Organized Crime and Corruption. The conference was organized by FLARE Network in partnership with Transparency International at the European Parliament in Brussels. The topics in focus were transnational organized crime and corruption, and the confiscation and social use of confiscated assets as a possible European countermeasure. The final aim of the conference was to show EU institutions the potential of confiscation and social use of criminal assets in fighting organized crime and corruption.
