Bribe for appointment of a regional prosecutor in Bulgaria
On October 20, 2001 the 24 Hours Daily published the statement of Keith Henderson, Transparency International expert, who announced on radio Deutsche Welle that 25 000 USD is the bribe for appointment of a regional prosecutor in Bulgaria. In relation to this, members of the Association of Prosecutors in Bulgaria declared that such а statement without any proof and its publication in the press is immoral and only attempts to discredit the institution and the people working for it. The freedom of speech does not mean a right to say and publish unverified statements, especially when the allegations are attacking on of the magistracy's units in a sovereign and democratic state.
