Mr. Markov outlined the experience of Finland - the country, having some of the best developed communications in the EU, which has achieved a high level of digitalization of certain criminal justice activities such as e-summonsing, replacing the verbatim records of court hearings with audio recordings, etc. Belgium's experience was reported interesting in terms of efforts to carry out a comprehensive reform to unify the systems and types of documents in order to enable their electronic exchange, regardless of the reform’s ultimate failure. Mr. Markov drew attention to the CEPEJ’s comparative study among Council of Europe Member States, which provides an overview of the position of each country in the development of e-justice.

During the ensuing discussion, Mr. Ivan Chilev, Regional Prosecutor of Gotse Delchev, expressed the interest of the Regional Prosecutor's Office into the introduction of the new technologies to assist the participants in all phases of the criminal proceedings and analyzed the situation in Bulgaria.
