| Policy Briefing and Presentation of the Report: The Hidden Economy in Bulgaria and the Global Economic Crisis

  On 18 January 2012 the Center for the Study of Democracy presented its latest publication "The Hidden Economy in Bulgaria and the Global Economic Crisis", published with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Sofia. Mr. Ruslan Stefanov, Director of the Economic Program at the Center for the Study of Democracy, presented the main findings of the publication in front of economic experts and representatievs of the European diplomatic corps in Sofia. The discussion focused on issues such as the dynamics of the hidden economy, policies and countermeasures, and reasons and motivation for entering the gray sectors. Ms Valentina Nikolova, Institutional Partnerships Director at Teach for Bulgaria made a direct correlation between the state and quality of the Bulgarian education system and the levels of the hidden economy.
