| Coalition 2000 meets with the Parliamentary Committee to Counter Crime and Corruption

The possibilities for joint actions between Coalition 2000 and the Parliamentary Committee to Counter Crime and Corruption were discussed at a meeting between the two bodies on September 18, 1998. Emil Georgiev, Coordinator of Coalition 2000, presented before the Parliamentary Committee to Counter Crime and Corruption the Coalition 2000 process and the Anti-Corruption Action Plan developed by the coalition. Alexander Stoyanov, Director of Research at the Center for the Study of Democracy, which is among the Coalition 2000 founding organizations, described the Corruption Monitoring System developed by Coalition 2000 and presented the results of the corruption surveys conducted so far.
Ekaterina Michailova, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee to Counter Crime and Corruption, said that she was aware of the Coalition 2000 activities and highly appreciated them. Yordan Sokolov, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee to Counter Crime and Corruption, talked about the priorities in the work of the Parliamentary Committee to Counter Crime and Corruption: preventing violations of the Customs regime, investigating the activities of the so-called credit millionaires and stopping illegitimate construction work. "We would like to cooperate with the Coalition 2000 in those and other areas," said Sokolov.
