The National Audit Office will define precisely the spheres and activities which are most susceptible to the pressures of corruption in order to execute enhanced control over them, NAO representatives announced. The Audit Office will sign an agreement for cooperation with the Agency for State Internal Financial Control, the General Tax Directorate, the Customs Office and the Prosecutor's Office by the end of June, 2002. On May 13, 2002, Mr. Georgi Nikolov, chairman of NAO, met with representatives of the Bulgarian-based Audit Council of Korea. During the meeting he related that in some cases of auditing, the Audit Office experts may have had doubts for acts of corruption, but there were no existing legal mechanisms to prove them. |
