Meeting with the Banite Municipality Local Public Mediator
The initiative for establishing the institution of public mediator at the municipality of Banite started and was put into practice within the framework of a project, implemented by the Bulgarian Youth League Stefan Stambolov – Smolyan, with the financial support of Coalition 2000 and Open Government Initiative of USAID.
Representatives of the Municipal Council and the municipal administration of Banite municipality, MPs, having participated in the elaboration of the legislative amendments to permit the establishment of such institutions, representatives of the Office of the former Sofia municipality Public Mediator, NGOs and media.
The challenges before the newly-elected public mediator, the problems to accompany her work and the possible practical decisions for their overcoming were among the main topics of the discussion. The experience and good practices accomplished in the course of work of similar pilot institutions in the country, which may contribute to the successful establishment and the efficient work of the public mediator for the municipality of Banite.
