| International seminar: The Impact of (Future) Accession to the European Union on the National Legal System

The event was attended by young civil servants working in the field of eurointegration, students from Sofia University St. Climent Ohridski and New Bulgarian University, representatives of NGOs and the judiciary.
During the opening session the Minister of Justice Mr. Sevdalin Bozhikov welcomed the participants and presented the objective of the seminar.
The main topics discussed were devoted to different aspects of the application of EU law and its correlation with and influence on the national legal systems of the member states and acceding countries, human rights under EU law, the necessary constitutional amendments to be undertaken by accession countries in the context of EU accession and the draft Constitutional Treaty of EU, etc.
Among the distinguished speakers at the seminar were Prof. Dr. Alfred E. Kellermann and Dr. Steven Blockmans from T.M.C. Asser Institute, Dr. Anneli Albi from the University of Kent at Canterbury, Prof. Dr. Evgeni Tanchev, Member of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Georgi Bliznashki and Dr. Plamen Kirov from the Law School of Sofia University St. Climent Ohridski.
