On April 15, 2004 the Director of the Law Program Dr. Maria Yordanova visited the offices of the federal ombudsmen of Belgium Mr. Pierre-Yves Monette and Dr. Herman Wuyts in Brussels. The visits were aimed at further developing the already established contacts and cooperation.
Dr. Wuyts and Mr. Monette acquainted Dr. Yordanova with the newly adopted amendments in the Belgian legislation concerning the organization, activity and functions of the institution and with their annual reports for 2003.
Dr. Yordanova described the last developments in Bulgaria, including the forthcoming election of the first national ombudsman.
