The increased trafficking and smuggling across the Balkan region presents a challenge for reforms in the customs area and its legal framework, improving the ethics of customs officials, and the procedures for customs. Coalition 2000 published a couple of reports and expert analyses on the current state of the problem and initiated consultations and discussions on the best appropriated ways for curbing illegal trafficking and corruption. An integral part of the work will be to establish viable public-private partnerships for preventing illegal trafficking.
