| Essay Competition for High-School Students: The Young People – Authors of Societal Change

 On the eve of the Day of the Bulgarian Constitution and Jurist, and for a third consecutive year, the City and Culture Foundation, Varna organized an essay competition for high-school students: The Young People – Authors of Societal Change. The official award ceremony took place on April 15, 2004.
The last round of the competition marked a record in terms of participation: 144 students from 12 high schools.
On March 27, 2004 the participants in the competition gathered together for three hours and wrote an essay on a theme that the jury proposed right before the beginning of the event: When you start climbing the stairs of success, do not be unjust with other people, because you might meet them on your way back.
The competition is a part of the project of the City and Culture Foundation named University for Civic Culture supported by the anticorruption initiative Coalition 2000. Project activities also include: Days of Open Doors for high-school students in Varna district court, Varna regional court, Municipality of Varna, Regional Directorate of Internal Affairs – Varna, Regional Customs Directorate-Varna; conducting summer internships in public institutions and nongovernmental organizations: i.e. High-school students club Philosophy; publishing a bulletin Civic Culture. In addition, at the end of the year City and Culture Foundation will award an individual and collective prize for valuable civic activities.
