Final Seminar Support and Stimulation of the Role of Civil Society in Anticorruption Activities in Pernik Municipality
 
On 20 December, 2004 in Pernik, the Regional Business Center for Support of SMEs organized a closing seminar titled: Support and Stimulation of the Role of Civil Society in Anticorruption Activities in Pernik Municipality. The seminar was organized under the project Limitation of the Corrupt Practices in the Fields of Public Health Services and the Educational System in Pernik Municipality Through Enhancing the Role of Civil Society, and is implemented by the Regional Business Center for Support of SMEs under the Civil Society Against Corruption Program of Coalition 2000, with the financial support of the US Agency for International Development.

The major activity under the project was the creation of a Public Anticorruption Council with representatives from: local authorities, NGOs and media in Pernik and conducting of a series of trainings for its members, which aimed at building their skills and establishing regional partnerships for counteracting corruption in Pernik municipality.

The organizers presented the final project results and discussed future partnerships and initiatives for counteracting “small” corruption in Pernik municipality. The training attracted representatives from the Foundation for Enterpreneurship Development, Sofia; local media, health authorities, Pernik Municipality, public schools.
