Wednesday, February 16
Objective/Theme: Understanding ourselves. Allow the ECA Centers
to (re-) connect with each other and with GDLN. Purpose is to give the Centers
space to reaffirm some of their initial assumptions and to critically discuss
others.
9:15-10:30 am: Session 1: Welcome and Introduction

Brief presentations by each center on events
since last workshop, focusing on new activities and events, changes in business
profile, and the center's relationship with its host institution. Centers
should also discuss plans for 2005 and areas in which it would like to participate
with other centers.

2:00-3:30 pm: Session 3: Similarities and differences in DLCs

Working Groups: Small groups to explore "similarities
and differences between my center and your center" in business model,
outlook, working with other agencies etc., with emphasis on identify common
areas of interest.

4:00-5:30 pm: Session 3 (continued):

Presentation of Working Groups: Discussion-who
is "GDLN ECA"? Are we one, two or many? Why are we together? Can
we benefit from each other and from the differences and similarities, common
areas of interest? How? Any possible actions?
Thursday, February 17
Objective/Theme: Impact on Development. Create space for centers
to begin discussing, amongst themselves, about business initiatives that they
may want to pursue together. Mix with "giving ideas" throughout
the day, from other regions or other agencies.
9:15-10:30 am: Session 4: Examples outside ECA
Moderator: Gary Fine

Presentations by the three guests GDLN center
directors from other regions, each discussing his/her own successful approach
to business development, plus presentation by WBI Paris on their work in
identifying program partners - including a presentation on how to find information
about donors and development in your country.

European partners and EU funding (Laurent
Porte, Michael Foley and Arturs Lindemanis)

11:00 am-12:30 pm: Session 5: Plenary: Generating business -
is this what we thought it is?

2:00-3:30 pm: Session 6: Strategies to strengthen GDLN

Working groups: Around the topics identified
above, to discuss specific strategies that would result in increased "GDLN
work" in their countries. This should include the nature of collaboration
between centers, and how revenue would be generated.

4:00-5:30 pm: Session 6 (continued)
Friday, February 18
Objective/Theme: "GDLN as a business"
This day will be focused exclusively on implementation; determining areas
for mutual collaboration, and developing action plans around them.
