Regional Thematic Seminar on the Application of Treaty Law: CoE and UN Conventions Against Corruption in Durres, Albania

The Council of Europe, the Stability Pact Anti-corruption Initiative (SPAI) and the Albanian authorities organized a regional event on the application of Council of Europe and United Nations Conventions against corruption in countries of South East Europe.

The meeting was held in Durres, Albania from 10 to 11 June, 2005. It is part of the IMPACT project of PACO – the Programme against Corruption and Organised Crime in South Eastern Europe – and supports countries in the region in their anti-corruption strategies.

The event brought together the main actors involved in anti-corruption measures in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro (including Kosovo), Moldova, "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", and Romania. Its purpose was to provide guidelines and tools for bringing treaties aimed at preventing and combating corruption into domestic legislation.

Albanian Coordination Minister Marko Bello and SPAI Executive Secretary Veselin Sukovic spoke at the opening session on 10 June, 2005.
