CSD Experts Participated in the 2005 European Healthcare Fraud and Corruption Conference
 
The second conference of the European Healthcare Fraud and Corruption Network (EHFCN) was held on October 6-7, 2005 in Bratislava, Slovakia. The main role of the network is to guarantee the exchange of best practices among the European countries in countering healthcare fraud and corruption. The network also helps the application of the principles of the European Healthcare Fraud and Corruption Declaration, adopted in October 2004.

Delegations from most of the European countries, as well as representatives of the Canadian Health Care Anti-Fraud Association participated in the conference. Participants from Bulgaria were Ms. Joana Staleva, Dr. Vasko Katsarov from the “European Integration” Direction of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Andrey Nonchev, Deputy Director of Vitosha Research and Ms. Dragomira Paunova, Project Assistant at the CSD Law Program.

The results of the work of the six Task Forces, established at the first EHFCN Conference in 2004, were presented. The Task Forces’ activity was aimed at preparing the future functioning of the network. The main documents, providing for the structure and the future activity of EHFCN, including the Constitution of the network, were endorsed at the conference.
