International conference Bulgaria and Its Neighbors in a New Europe
 
The Director of the CSD Law Program Dr. Maria Yordanova participated in the annual international conference Bulgaria and Its Neighbors in a New Europe. The conference was held in Vienna on November 10-11, 2005. It was organized by the Bulgarian Research Institute in Austria -Friends of Wittgenstein House Association and the Austrian Institute on Eastern and Southeastern Europe. Such a conference is organized each year as a multidisciplinary event devoted to different aspects of the topic discussed: geopolitical, historical, legal, international, political, cultural, etc.

The history of the Bulgarian-Austrian relations and the relations between Bulgaria and its neighbors as well as the prospects for the development of these relations in the near decades, searching for the mutually acceptable solutions to the ethnic and territorial problems, the history and European future of the region. Representatives of Austrian, German, Serbian, Macedonian, and Romanian research institutes, working in the field of Bulgarian and Balkan studies and the School of History at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and the Institute of Balkan Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Science.

Dr. Yordanova delivered a presentation on corruption and organized crime in their national and regional characteristics and CSD activities in this field.
