| APEC Workshop on Anti-corruption measures for the development of SMEs

Mr. Todor Yalamov from CSD's Economic Program participated in APEC Workshop on Anti-corruption measures for the development of SMEs, Ha Noi, Viet Nam, February 24-25, 2006, organized within Senior Officials Meeting of APEC in 2006 with the support of the Canadian government. Mr. Yalamov’s presentation highlighted CSD experience in anti-corruption and in particular how corruption measurement and monitoring could inform and facilitate policy making. The workshop brought together over 50 participants from APEC member countries and international NGOs active in private sector development and anti-corruption. Speakers included active politicians such as the foreign minister of Peru Mr. Oscar Mauмrtua, and Mr. Jesse Robredo, Mayor of Naga City, Philipines; senior government officials as Mr. Thomas Chan Chi-sun, Director of Corruption Prevention, ICAC Hong Kong and Mr. Nguyen Huu Loc, Deputy Director of the Department for International Cooperation, Government Inspectorate of Vietnam; international consultant Mr. Miguel Schloss, Managing Partner, DamConsult, who also serves as board member for the Development Gateway Foundation and Mr. Peter Rooke, Regional Director, Asia-Pacific, Transperancy International, representatives from business associations and NGOs from Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
