| Public discussion on: Anticorruption Public Councils and the Local Public Mediators – Anticorruption Network in Pazardjik District

 The discussion, held on May 30, 2006 in Pazardjik, was organized by the Crime Prevention Fund –IGA with the support of the CSD. Mayors and municipal councilors from seven municipalities in Pazardjik district – Belovo, Bratsigovo, Rakitovo, Lesichovo, Septemvri, Batak and Pazardjik, representatives of the district and municipal administrations, local NGOs and media attended the conference.
 The discussion was moderated by the District Governor of Pazardjik Mr. Angel Cholakov. The Chair of the municipal council Mr. Todor Popov and the Mayor of Pazardjik district Mr. Ivan Evstatiev presented the experience of the municipality in the establishment of the institution of the local public mediator, including the election procedure and ensuring good conditions for the work of the mediator. The public mediators of Lesichovo, Pazardjik and Batak acquainted the participants with their work and experience.
 Mr. Alexander Roussanov from CSD Law Program summarized the accumulated experience in the process of introducing the local public mediators in Bulgaria before and after the adoption of the legal framework of the institution. Ms. Dragomira Paunova spoke on the national anti-corruption policy and presented the new developments in the public-private partnership.
The Chair of the District Public Council against Corruption Ms. Nedelka Prejdarova informed the participants on the activity of the council and the signals received by it and submitted to the Consultative Council for Fight against Corruption and Organized Crime at the District Governor.
