Public Discussion: National and International Security in the 21st Century
On 28 July 2011 the Center for the Study of Democracy in cooperation with the Southeast Europe Development Initiative and the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense hosted in the Sofia Military Club, a public discussion on national and international security in the 21st century. The keynote speaker was General James Jones, former National Security Advisor to President Obama and Supreme Allied Commander Europe, joined by the Bulgarian Minister of Defense Anu Anguelov. more »
 
Public meeting of the National Crime Prevention Commission
On September 8 2008, the National Crime Prevention Commission held a public meeting entitled "The Dynamics of Conventional Crime in Bulgaria 2006-2007".
In his opening address, Mr. Mihail Mikov, Minister of the Interior, stressed the importance of the annual National Crime Surveys and the public presentation of their results, and praised the contribution of the Center for the Study of Democracy as an organization actively involved in crime prevention research. more »

Round Table: Defense Transformation and the Role of Smaller States in Allied Operations
On 16 February 2007 the Center for the Study of Democracy, together with the Embassy of Denmark in Sofia organized a round table on Defense Transformation and the Role of Smaller States in Allied Operations. Keynote speaker at the event was Gen. Hans Jesper Helsø, Chief of Defense of Denmark. more »
 
Round Table on Crime Surveys
On 19 June 2006 the CSD team which developed the Crime Trends in Bulgaria Report met with Jon Simmons, Director – Strategic Research and Data at the UK Home Office at a round table on crime victimization surveys.The discussion focused on the strengths and limitations of the various survey methodologies and their implications for performance evaluation. more »
 
Fourth Annual Security Conference: NATO Transformation - Facing New Security Frontiers
As part of its series of annual security events, the Center for the Study of Democracy held its 2006 security conference NATO Transformation - Facing New Security Frontiers on 28-29 April, 2006. It was a follow-up to the 2006 NATO ministerial meeting hosted by the government of Bulgaria. The conference contributed to the broader debate on NATO’s transformation and helped outline bold new policies, overcoming legacy relationships and trans-atlantic divides. more »
 
Round table: NATO’s nuclear policy and non-proliferation of WMD
On 11 April 2006 the Center for the Study of Democracy held a round table on NATO’s nuclear policy and non-proliferation of WMD. The aim of the event was to provide more information and clarity regarding NATO’s weapons of mass destruction (WMD) policy. The main speaker was Mr. Guy Roberts, Deputy Assistant Secretary General for WMD Policy and Director of the Nuclear Policy Directorate. Participants in the round table were members of the Bulgarian Parliament, staff officers and representatives of the media. more »

The Third Annual Security Conference of the Center for the Study of Democracy took place on November 19-20, 2005 in Sofia. The forum aimed to give more prominence to ideas, concepts and policies which dominate the agenda of NATO, the EU and the wider international community in this field. more »

A seminar on security strategies for experts in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Serbia and Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania and Hungary took place on 13-14 October 2005 in Radisson SAS Grand Hotel in Sofia. more »
