On April 7, 2010, the Center for the Study of Democracy organized a seminar on “Methodology for Organized Crime Threat Assessment in the Netherlands”. Round table: Police in the Modern Society: The Necessary Reform in Bulgaria
On 25 May 2009 at the “Iztok” hall of the Bulgarian National Assembly, the Center for the Study of Democracy with the cooperation of the Internal Security and Public Order Committee to the National Assembly, organized a round table, dedicated to the problems of internal security, the state of the national police and the necessary measures to reform the sector and restore public confidence. more »
 
EU Fundamental Rights Agency presents report on child trafficking in the EU: EU must do more to fight child trafficking
On 7 July 2009, the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) released a new report on 'The role of the European Union in the fight against child trafficking'.
Many children fall victim to trafficking every year. There are extremely low numbers of convictions in child trafficking cases. Overall, the report finds that the EU must do more to address the issue. The FRA calls for better legislation to combat child trafficking. The protection and care for victims, in particular, must be improved. more »

National Round Table: Development and Improvement of the Institutional Instruments for Administrative Control and Prevention of Corruption in the Ministry of Interior and the Role of the NGOs for its Decrease
On 16 June 2009 the Inspectorate Directorate at the Ministry of Interior organized a round table, dedicated to the prevention of corruption in the Ministry and the role of the Bulgarian NGOs for the decrease of corruption. During the event the Inspectorate Directorate at the Ministry of Interior and six Bulgarian NGOs, among which the Center for the Study of Democracy, signed a declaration for collaboration in the area of anticorruption. more »

The national security priorities and options for the new US administration, as well as the implications for Euroatlantic cooperation, were the subject of a seminar held at the Center for the Study of Democracy on 18 February 2008, with the participation of Ambassador Michael Geier, Germany’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, Ambassador Robert Gelbard and Mr. Brian Jenkins. more »
 
High Table on US - European relations
On 21 December 2008, the Center for the Study of Democracy held a High Table discussion with the participation of Mr. Robert McFarlane. The topic of discussion was the changing international environment in the wake of the recent historic US Presidential election, and in particular the implications for the strategic relationship between the US and European Union members. more »
