Round Table on Financial Profiling in Money Laundering Investigations
On October 25, 2006 the Center for the Study of Democracy held a round table discussion on Financial Profiling in Money Laundering Investigations. International workshop: Policing Minorities
On September 28-29, 2006, the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) in cooperation with the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC) held an international workshop on policing minorities. The event was aimed to broaden the opportunities for Bulgarian NGOs to work with government and law-enforcement institutions in addressing issues of ethnic and racial discrimination and violence and to increase the capacity of Bulgarian law-enforcement institutions to prevent and analyze issues related to ethnic and racist violence and discrimination. more »
 
Presentation of the report “Police Stops and Ethnic Profiling in Bulgaria”
On September 19, 2006 the Center for the Study of Democracy launched the report Police Stops and Ethnic Profiling in Bulgaria at a public meeting of the National Crime Prevention Commission. Between June and December 2005 CSD and Vitosha Research, supported by the Open Society Justice Initiative carried out a study of police stops. more »

International Conference: Corruption and Organized Crime: Bridging Criminal and Economic Policies
On 23-24 June 2006 the Center for the Study of Democracy organized an international conference on the complementarity between law enforcement and economic policies against corruption and organized crime. The conference aims at reviewing the range of effective policy instruments and proposing integrated solutions to governments, international institutions and civil society. more »
 
Round Table on Crime Surveys
On 19 June 2006 the CSD team which developed the Crime Trends in Bulgaria Report met with Jon Simmons, Director – Strategic Research and Data at the UK Home Office at a round table on crime victimization surveys.The discussion focused on the strengths and limitations of the various survey methodologies and their implications for performance evaluation. more »
 
International seminar: Export Control of Dual-Use Items and Arms: Industry Outreach
On 22 - 23 May 2006 the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria in cooperation with the Center for the Study of Democracy organized an international seminar on Export Control of Dual-Use Items and Arms: Industry Outreach. The seminar was part of the continuing implementation of the Joint Action Plan of Bulgaria and Hungary offering exchange of information, training and assistance to the countries from the Western Balkans. more »
 
Round table: Prospects of Energy Security in Europe
On 11 May 2006 the Center for the Study of Democracy hosted a round table on the topic Prospects of Energy Security in Europe with guest speaker Mr. Philip Stephens, associate editor of the Financial Times and senior commentator at the newspaper. Participants in the event were UK Ambassador Jeremy Hill, Mr. Valeri Rachev, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Iraq, Dr. Ognian Shentov, Chairman of CSD, Mr. Assen Dyulgerov, attorney-at-law, Ambassador Boyko Noev, CSD European Program Director, Mr. Emil Yalnazov, Director of the UN and Global Affairs Directorate at the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and others. more »
