Public Discussion: Corruption and Anti-corruption in Bulgaria (2012-2013)
On 29 November 2013, the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation presented CSD’s annual policy brief on “Corruption and Anti-corruption in Bulgaria 2012 – 2013”, as well as the latest results from the Corruption Monitoring system, developed by CSD and the sociological agency Vitosha Research. more »
 
Working Meeting: Preparing the Macedonian Anti-corruption Program

Opening Conference of the SELDI network
On 5 March 2013 the SELDI network held its Opening Conference in Zagreb, Croatia. The Center for the Study of Democracy is coordinator of the SELDI network, established within the framework of the project Civil Society for Good Governance and Anti-Corruption in Southeast Europe: Capacity Building for Monitoring, Advocacy and Awareness Raising. more »
 
Kick-Off Meeting of the 2012 IPA Financed Projects
On 21 January 2013 in Brussels DG Enlargement organized the kick-off meeting of the IPA Civil Society Facility financed projects. The Center for the Study of Democracy is coordinator of one of the financed projects, entitled Civil Society for Good Governance and Anti-Corruption in Southeast Europe: Capacity Building for Monitoring, Advocacy and Awareness Raising. The project has as an objective to continue the mission of the SELDI initiative. more »

Crime without Punishment
Political corruption and organized crime still remain largely crimes without punishment even after Bulgaria’s accession to the EU. Notwithstanding economic growth and past progress in its anti-corruption reforms, Bulgaria still displays two major deficits for countering corruption and organized crime: namely, of political will and of administrative capacity. more »
