Videoconference: Corruption and Organized Crime
On 30 September, 2005 the Center for Study of Democracy and the Sofia Distance Learning Center hosted the fifth and final videoconference under the Anti-corruption pilot program titled Corruption and Organized Crime. It was delivered to representatives of public and private sector organizations and NGOs at the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine, in Kiev and representatives from public and private sector and donor community in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. more »

IMF Published a New Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes on Fiscal Transparency for Bulgaria
In August 2005, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) published a new report titled Bulgaria: Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) — Fiscal Transparency Module. The report provides an assessment of fiscal transparency practices in Bulgaria in relation to the requirements of the IMF Code of Good Practices on Fiscal Transparency and IMF Manual on Fiscal Transparency. more »

On 22 and 25 July, 2005 the Newropeans-Magazine – a trans-European online daily magazine published an article titled Disorder in Bulgaria’s Courts written by John Dyer. Corruption Monitoring Workshop
On 17 and 18 June, 2005 the Center for the Study of Democracy hosted a workshop on the future of corruption monitoring jointly organized with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The workshop brought together leading experts in the field to discuss the role of corruption monitoring in the context of the evolving international anti-corruption policies. more »
 
Public Presentation of Coalition 2000’ Media Monitoring Report Corruption in the Bulgarian Healthcare System
On 14 June, 2005 Georgi Apostolov, a coordinator of the media expert group at Coalition 2000 delivered a presentation on the following topic: Corruption in the Bulgarian Healthcare System. The presentation was delivered at the international conference Medical Ethics and the Use of Pharmaceuticals. The Right and Freedom of Choice held at Hilton Hotel in Sofia. more »
 
Videoconference: Investment Climate: Competitiveness and Poverty Reduction
On June 13, 2005 the Distance Learning Center at the Center for the Study of Democracy, jointly with the World Bank Country Office in Sofia, organized a videoconference discussion on one of the pillars of development - the creation of a better investment climate to create jobs and higher incomes. The lead speaker was Mr. Michael Klein, World Bank’s Vice-president for Private Sector Development. more »
