Regional Thematic Seminar on the Application of Treaty Law: CoE and UN Conventions Against Corruption in Durres, Albania
The Council of Europe, the Stability Pact Anti-corruption Initiative (SPAI) and the Albanian authorities organized a regional event on the application of Council of Europe and United Nations Conventions against corruption in countries of South East Europe. IV Global Forum on Fighting Corruption
From 7 to 10 June, 2005 the capital of Brazil, Brasilia hosted one of the most important global events on the international calendar in the fight against wrongdoing in government - The IV Global Forum on Fighting Corruption. Alexander Stoyanov, Director of Research at the Center for Study of Democracy made a presentation titled Monitoring and Measuring Levels of Corruption in Bulgaria and South East Europe as part of the workshop on Measuring Corruption during the second day of the Forum. more »
 
Coalition 2000’ Project on Anticorruption Education Received a Recognition during the Annual Award Ceremony of World Learning’s Participant Training Program
On 8 June, 2005 at Hilton Hotel in Sofia, the World Learning program office in Bulgaria held the annual Certificate Awards Ceremony under the Europe and Eurasia Regional Participants Training Program. The topic of one of the trainings conducted under the 2004-2005 PTP was Anticorruption Education. It was organized in cooperation with Coalition 2000 between 2 and 9 October, 2004 in Slovakia. more »

Judicial Strengthening Initiative Project Announced a New Round of Small Grants Competition
On 26 May, 2005, the Judicial Strengthening Initiative Project announced a new round for submitting proposals for projects in areas related to improving the work of courts and enhancing the quality of public services provided by the judiciary system in Bulgaria. The nongovernmental organizations interested in the competition are invited to attend an information session, which will take place on 3 June, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Grand Hotel Sofia. more »

Round Table Counteracting Corruption in the Ministry of Interior
The results from the implementation of the communication strategy for counteracting corruption in the system of the Ministry of Interior, developed on a twinning project between the Ministries of Interior of Bulgaria and the United Kingdom, were presented at a round table at hotel Rila in Sofa on 17 May, 2005. Participants in the discussion were also representatives of nongovernmental organizations, who are members of the so-called Transparency Group on the project. more »

Workshop: The Local Public Mediators in Bulgaria: the First Year
On April 26, 2005 Coalition 2000 in cooperation with the Center for the Study of Democracy, held a workshop on the activities of the local public mediators since the introduction of the institution in the beginning of 2004. more »
 
A New Grants Competition on Anticorruption Issues
On 18 April, 2005 the U.S. Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria and its Democracy Commission announced a new small grants competition. The project proposals should focus on issues like: building democratic institutions, promoting the rule of law, anti-corruption, and administration of justice, encouraging the free flow of information, supporting the development of civic education and civil society, protecting human rights, and furthering ethnic and political harmony in Bulgaria. more »
