Kick-Off Meeting of the 2012 IPA Financed Projects
On 21 January 2013 in Brussels DG Enlargement organized the kick-off meeting of the IPA Civil Society Facility financed projects. The Center for the Study of Democracy is coordinator of one of the financed projects, entitled Civil Society for Good Governance and Anti-Corruption in Southeast Europe: Capacity Building for Monitoring, Advocacy and Awareness Raising. The project has as an objective to continue the mission of the SELDI initiative. more »
 
Anti-Corruption Policy Forum: Countering Corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina
On 12 June 2012 the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) and the Center for Investigative Reporting, Srajevo (CIN) presented the report “Countering Corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina: a 2001-2011 Comparison” at a policy forum in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. more »

Study Visit: Mechanisms for Fight against Corruption - Bulgaria’s Experience and Challenges
On 25 and 26 November, 2010, the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC) together with the Center for the Study of Democracy organized a study visit on the Mechanisms for Fight against Corruption - Bulgaria’s Experience and Challenges for representatives of the Macedonian Parliament, Public Prosecution Office, State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, General Secretariat of the Government, Ministry of the Interior, The Association of the Units Of Local-Self Government, and representatives of non-government organizations as Transparency Macedonia and the Research Center for Civil Society. more »

Presentation of the CSD’s ninth corruption assessment report Crime without Punishment: Countering Corruption and Organized Crime in Bulgaria in Macedonia
On October 13, 2010, upon invitation by the Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation (MCIC), Dr. Maria Yordanova, CSD Law Pragram Director took part in the official presentation of the CSD’s ninth corruption assessment report, entitled Crime without Punishment: Countering Corruption and Organized Crime in Bulgaria, translated and published by MCIC. more »
 
LIBE Committee Hearing
The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament, and the European People’s Party invited CSD to present the results of the study Examining the links between organised crime and corruption. On 13 July 2010, Mr. Alexander Stoyanov, Research Director, Mr. Ruslan Stefanov, Director, Economic Program and Mr. Philip Gounev, Research Fellow at CSD presented to LIBE the study. Their presentation was followed by a lively discussion with numerous comments and questions. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Juan Lopez Aguilar (ES) of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the EP. more »

Training seminar for Turkish magistrates
On January 12, 2007, the Center for the Study of Democracy held a training seminar for magistrates from Turkey under the project Enhancing Border Security between Bulgaria, Turkey and Macedonia: Reinforcing Criminal Justice in Border Districts. The project is implemented with the support of the British Embassy. The meeting was aimed to exchange information in connection with the preparation of a report on the state and the problems with the detection and punishment of trans-border crimes. more »
 
Working meetings of Bulgarian and Turkish magistrates
On September 13–14, 2006, working meetings of Bulgarian and Turkish magistrates were held in the town of Haskovo. The meetings, which aimed to establish contacts and exchange information on trans-border crime detection, investigation and punishment, were organized by the Center for the Study of Democracy and Haskovo District Court. more »
