Biography

Tatyana Novossiolova is a Research Fellow with the Law Programme of the Center for the Study of Democracy, Bulgaria. Tatyana completed her PhD on a Wellcome Trust studentship in 2016. She is a co-editor of the Guide to Biological Security Issues and an author of the Biological Security Education Handbook, both funded under the Global Partnership (G-7) against the Spread of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Over the past 8 years Tatyana has been actively involved in curricula development in international security, disarmament, and biological security using cutting-edge pedagogy and training methods and active learning techniques. She has also delivered lectures and seminars as part of university courses and conducted specialised continued professional development (CPD) activities for those in the biological sciences. Tatyana has served as a technical/scientific expert to the International Federation of Biosafety Associations, Canada and the Landau Network-Fondazione Volta, Italy; she has held internships at the Bradford Disarmament Research Centre, UK, and the UN Biological Weapons Convention Implementation Support Unit in Geneva; and she has collaborated with the Public Health Agency of Canada, the National Centre for Disease Control, Georgia, and the US National Academies of Sciences. She has provided expert advice to the Palladin Institute of Biochemistry in Ukraine on the implementation of a UK Ministry of Defence-funded project, ‘Education and Awareness-Raising in Ukraine’. She has published widely and presented numerous papers at international conferences. Her latest book is Governance of Biotechnology in Post-Soviet Russia.
