In December 2008 a book on the new trends in Internet use by teenagers in Central and Eastern Europe, Bulgaria included, was published. The book "Teenagers’ Actions and Interactions Online in Central and Eastern Europe. Potentials and Empowerment, Risks and Victimization" is the result of an international conference in Cluj-Napoca, Rumania, initiated by the Babes-Bolyai University.
The book contains an article on the new patterns of Bulgarian teenagers' online socialization and the growing use of Web 2.0 technologies for producing violent content. It is based on sociological surveys as well as on the material collected in the 3 years of operating the Bulgarian Hotline against Illegal and Harmful Content in Internet by the Applied Research and Communications Fund.
The enlarged possibilities for creativity in Internet, on the other hand, seem to stimulate teenagers to commit also physical violence against pals and adults in order to produce and post video-clips in Internet.
The article about Bulgaria describes a new pattern of a closed circle of real-virtal violence, discusses its roots and the possible measures against it.
