Round Table: The Use of Wiretaps in the Investigation of Organised Crime and Corruption
On 20 February 2012, the Center for the Study of Democracy held a round table entitled The Use of Wiretaps in the Investigation of Organised Crime and Corruption. The special guest was Mr. Peter Ainsworth, Senior Deputy Chief, Public Integrity Section, Criminal Division, U.S. Department of Justice. The issues discussed were related to the problems that the Bulgarian judiciary faces in tackling issues of corruption and organized crime, especially when it comes to high-ranking officials. more »

On 9 February 2012, The Center for the Study of Democracy held a round table entitled Migration Policies and Trafficking in Human Beings – Opportunities for Regional Cooperation, part of a series of public discussions under the BOCTA (Bulgarian Organized Crime Threat Assessment)project. CSD Delegation Visits China

It was jointly organized by the Center for the Study of Democracy, the Commission for Establishing Properties Acquired from Criminal Activities and the Caserta Province Authority (Italy). more »
 
Public Discussion: National and International Security in the 21st Century
On 28 July 2011 the Center for the Study of Democracy in cooperation with the Southeast Europe Development Initiative and the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense hosted in the Sofia Military Club, a public discussion on national and international security in the 21st century. The keynote speaker was General James Jones, former National Security Advisor to President Obama and Supreme Allied Commander Europe, joined by the Bulgarian Minister of Defense Anu Anguelov. more »
