On May 11,
2001 UNDP-Bulgaria hosted one of the regular Task Force meetings
on IT for Development. Among the participants present were Ms. Nora
Ovcharova - USAID, Mr. Thomas Higgins - BAE, Mr. Assen Kemilev -
JOBS IMIS, Mr. Orlin Kusov - Internet BG Foundation, Mr. Pavlin
Petrinski - Risk Investment Fund Consultant, Mr. Svetoslav
Bordzhukov - BAIT, Mr. George Mihaylov- CED, Mr. Constantino
Longares - UNDP, Mr. Christopher Louise - UNDP, Mr. Krassimir
Benevski - UNDP, Ms. Dimitrinka Krasteva - UNDP, Ms. Jennifer
Helsing - UNDP, Mr. Ulrich Boes - consultant, and Mr. Boyan Belev -
Economic Program Coordinator, Center for the Study of
Democracy.
At the
meeting the first draft of the Issue Paper on IT for Development
was presented by Mr. Ulrich Boes and Mr. Boyan Belev. This paper is
supposed to be presented to the new Bulgarian government after the
elections of June 17 as a document containing the vision of the
Task Force for the future of ICT in Bulgaria as well as specific
policy recommendation for government action.
The
Task Force members gave specific comments and recommendations on
the content of the paper which should be taken into account in the
preparation of its final draft.
