18.10.2004 - Videoconference: Mainstreaming e-Development
On October 18, 2004 ARC Fund / Bulgaria Development Gateway took part in a videoconference dedicated to Mainstreaming e-Development: Implementing National ICT Strategies organized by the World Bank’s e-Development Thematic Group. The videoconference linked participants from Croatia, Bulgaria, Peru and Ghana, as well as senior World Bank officials and experts in Washington, DC. more »
19.05.2004 - International conference: Knowledge Economy – Challenges and Opportunities for Bulgaria
On 19-20 May 2004 ARC Fund organized an international conference titled Knowledge Economy – Challenges and Opportunities for Bulgaria jointly with the World Bank Country Office and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. One of its objectives was to help create a national consensus among all relevant stakeholders in Bulgarian society about the policies that need to be put in place in order to facilitate the country’s transition into a Knowledge-based Economy. more »
23.03.2004 - 26.03.2004 - Bulgaria's Regional Innovation System showcased at the Third Knowledge Economy Forum in Budapest
On March 23-26, 2004 the World Bank and the Government of Hungary organized in Budapest the Third Knowledge Economy Forum: Improving Competitiveness through a Knowledge-Based Economy. The Bulgarian delegation to the Forum, headed by Mr. Dimitar Ivanovski, Deputy Minister of Economy, included a number of representatives from the private and public sectors. The Delegation nominated Mr. Ruslan Stefanov, Senior Advisor at ARC Fund to present a case-study on Bulgaria's experience in rebuilding its regional innovation system. more »
19.03.2004 - First Innovation Seminar Discusses Knowledge Economy: a New Policy Instrument
On 19 March 2004 ARC Fund and the Bulgarian Development Gateway organized the first Innovation Seminar “Knowledge Economy: New Policy Instrument”. The objective of the meeting was the initiation of a discussion on methodological and theoretical issues which are to turn later on into a discussion on the results from empirical surveys in the sphere of social, economic and technological innovations in Bulgaria and abroad. The seminar intends to publish materials (working papers) in Internet and in collections of papers, monographs and other works of the participants, approved by ARc Fund's Expert Council on Innovation. more »
05.03.2004 - Program for Certification of Linux Experts in Bulgaria Launched
The launch of a Linux experts certification program for Bulgaria was announced
at a round table in Sofia co-organized by Free
Software Association – Bulgaria, FSA-BG, Bulgaria
Development Gateway and ARC Fund on March 5, 2004. Mr. Glenn McKnight,
the Director for development of programs within Linux Professional Institute, LPI, responsible for local partners around
the world and the international funding, announced the start of the process
for educating and certifying Linux experts in Bulgaria. more »
