Presentation of the study: E-Tools for Criminal Case Management within Selected EU Member States
On November 17, 2011, at the regional court of Gotse Delchev the Center for the Study of Democracy presented the study E-Tools for Criminal Case Management within Selected EU Member States. The publication is part of the project Tracking Progress in Strengthening the Criminal Justice Indicators for Integrated Case Management and presents the best practices in using ICT for better administration of criminal cases. The event was attended by representatives of the court, prosecution, investigation and the police as well as by lawyers from the municipality, specialised in criminal cases.

Registration reform in Bulgaria: an update
The development of market economy and establishment of democratic rule of law in Bulgaria require the creation of a safe and transparent environment for setting up and conducting business, as well as proper conclusion and carrying out of contracts. A precondition to achieving this objective is the establishment of a modern centralized electronic system of official registers that is able to provide reliable, timely and legally valid information on legal persons and real estate to the public and private sector. However, the present registration system in the country, consisting primarily of decentralized, paper based registers, reveals a number of shortcomings, which make it ineffective, unreliable, short of transparency, and a major source generating corruption within the judiciary. more »

The first Task Force meeting took place on March 10, 2004. Relying on the considerable experience and active contribution of the Center for the Study of Democracy to the elaboration of the Law on Electronic Document and Electronic Signature, Dr. Maria Yordanova, Director of CSD Law Program was invited to join the Task Force.
