  Fourth Annual Security Conference: NATO Transformation - Facing New Security Frontiers
As part of its series of annual security events, the Center for the Study of Democracy held its 2006 security conference NATO Transformation - Facing New Security Frontiers on 28-29 April, 2006. It was a follow-up to the 2006 NATO ministerial meeting hosted by the government of Bulgaria. The conference contributed to the broader debate on NATO’s transformation and helped outline bold new policies, overcoming legacy relationships and trans-atlantic divides. more »

Round table: NATO’s nuclear policy and non-proliferation of WMD
On 11 April 2006 the Center for the Study of Democracy held a round table on NATO’s nuclear policy and non-proliferation of WMD. The aim of the event was to provide more information and clarity regarding NATO’s weapons of mass destruction (WMD) policy. The main speaker was Mr. Guy Roberts, Deputy Assistant Secretary General for WMD Policy and Director of the Nuclear Policy Directorate. Participants in the round table were members of the Bulgarian Parliament, staff officers and representatives of the media. more »
 
Discussion: The Constitutional Amendments and the Ombudsman Institution. Specialized ombudsmen in Bulgaria
On March 28, 2006, CSD organized a public discussion devoted to the incorporation in the Constitution of the ombudsman institution as well as to the specialized ombudsmen in Bulgaria. Representatives of the National Ombudsman Office, the Public Mediator of the Sofia Municipality and his deputy, NGO representatives, experts and media attended the discussion. more »
 
Discussion on the judicial reforms in Bulgaria
On March 2, 2006 CSD hosted a discussion on the judicial reforms in Bulgaria. The event was organized within the framework of the Austrian EU presidency in cooperation with CSD and attended by the Deputy Chiefs of Mission of 15 embassies of EU member states, including Austria, Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Greece, the Netherlands, etc as well as a representative of the Delegation of the European Commission to Bulgaria. more »
 
APEC Workshop on Anti-corruption measures for the development of SMEs
Mr. Todor Yalamov from CSD's Economic Program participated in APEC Workshop on Anti-corruption measures for the development of SMEs, Ha Noi, Viet Nam, February 24-25, 2006, organized within Senior Officials Meeting of APEC in 2006 with the support of the Canadian government. Mr. Yalamov’s presentation highlighted CSD experience in anti-corruption and in particular how corruption measurement and monitoring could inform and facilitate policy making. more »
