On 26 March 2009 the Center for the Study of Democracy organized a seminar on Public Opinion and Civic Control on Justice. Guest speaker at the event was Prof. Julian Roberts, Professor of Criminology at the Centre for Criminology, University of Oxford.
On 19 June 2007 the „Na svetlo“ („In the light“) initiative organized a discussion forum entitled The Grey Economy: Impact on the Development of Bulgaria and Measures to Address the Problems. Mr. Petkan Iliev, Senior Fellow at the Economic Program of the Center for the Study of Democracy took part in the event.
On 23 April 2007 the Center for the Study of Democracy held the Ninth Annual Anticorruption Policy Forum. The Forum is a high profile public event for anti-corruption initiatives, supporting the efforts of civil society and public institutions in the fight against corruption. The eighth consecutive Corruption Assessment Report, entitled “Anti-Corruption Reforms in Bulgaria: Key Results and Risks” was presented and discussed by the participants. The report presents an overview of anti-corruption reforms in Bulgaria in 2006 and 2007.
The Eighth Anticorruption Policy Forum took place on 21 March 2006 at the Boyana Conference Center. The Forum, organized annually, is a high profile public event for anti-corruption initiatives, supporting the efforts of the civil society and public institutions in the fight against corruption. The next issue of the annual Corruption Assessment Report, entitled On the Eve of EU Accession: Anti-Corruption Reforms in Bulgaria was presented during the event.
The Report e-Municipality was launched in the Information Society Promotion Office on 15 December 2005. The report is elaborated jointly by experts from the Center for the Study of Democracy, ARC Fund, the Coordination Centre for Information, Communication and Management Technologies and Vitosha Research.
On 18 October 2005 the Center for Study of Democracy and Coalition 2000 organized a round table to present the analytical report Corruption and Tax Compliance. Policy and Administration Challenges. The Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Boyko Kotzev, made the opening remarks and stated that the Ministry of Interior applies effectively the best practices of the EU countries in preventing corruption within the Ministry.
On 21 September, 2005 the Center for Study of Democracy and Sofia Distance Learning Center hosted the forth videoconference on the Anti-corruption pilot program titled Corruption Monitoring and Assessment Techniques.
On 17 and 18 June, 2005 the Center for the Study of Democracy hosted a workshop on the future of corruption monitoring jointly organized with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The workshop brought together leading experts in the field to discuss the role of corruption monitoring in the context of the evolving international anti-corruption policies.
From 7 to 10 June, 2005 the capital of Brazil, Brasilia hosted one of the most important global events on the international calendar in the fight against wrongdoing in government - The IV Global Forum on Fighting Corruption. Alexander Stoyanov, Director of Research at the Center for Study of Democracy made a presentation titled Monitoring and Measuring Levels of Corruption in Bulgaria and South East Europe as part of the workshop on Measuring Corruption during the second day of the Forum.
On 1 February, 2005 the Center for the Study of Democracy and Vitosha Research presented the Index of Hidden Economy, which
is product of the Hidden Economy Monitoring System of Coalition 2000.
