» Horizon 2020 launched with 15 billion over first two years, The European Commission for the first time presented calls for projects under Horizon 2020, the European Union's 80 billion research and innovation programme. Worth more than 15 billion over the first two years, the funding is intended to help boost Europe's knowledge-driven economy, and tackle issues that will make a difference in people's lives. This includes 12 areas that will be a focus for action in 2014/2015, including topics such as personalised healthcare, digital security and smart cities.

» Information Day on Transport under Horizon2020 together with B2B meetings and presentation sessions, 18 December 2013, Brussels, To support the preparation of proposals, the Transport Directorate of the European Commission’s Research and Innovation Directorate-General is organising an Information Day on Transport under Horizon2020 programe on 18 December 2013from 9 AM till 6 PM in the Charlemagne building, rue de la Loi 170, Brussels.

» Ninth National Contest ‘Innovative Enterprise of the Year 2013’, Applied Research and Communications Fund and Enterprise Europe Network - Bulgaria launch the Ninth National Contest ‘Innovative Enterprise of the Year 2013’. The contest is supported by the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria.

The competition is open to all active Bulgarian companies successfully developing and implementing innovation in the last three years (since January 2011).

» Business mission of Greek companies in the field of frozen seafood and delicacies during the exhibition InterFood & Drink, Sofia, 6-8 November 2013, Enterprise Europe Network at the Applied Research and Communications Fund, ARC Consulting and the National Documentation Centre (Enterprise Europe Network-Hellas) organize a business mission of Greek companies within the frame of the international exhibition InterFood & Drink, 6-8 November 2013, in InterExpo Center - Sofia.

» Transport: New EU infrastructure policy , In the most radical overhaul of EU infrastructure policy since its inception in the 1980s, the Commission has today published new maps showing the nine major corridors which will act as a backbone for transportation in Europe's single market and revolutionise East–West connections. To match this level of ambition, EU financing for transport infrastructure will triple for the period 2014–2020 to ?26 billion.

» Single Market Month – A month of online debates in 24 languages , Between 23 September and 23 October 2013, the European Union will organise a month of online debates on the EU Single Market. Discussion will focus on four key areas which affect people’s daily life:

» B2B meetings in the field of food, drinks and supporting industries during the ANUGA Trade Fair 2013, 6-8 October, Cologne, Germany, Enterprise Europe Network at ARC Consulting, Bulgaria invites interested organisations to take part in the B2B Anuga Matchmaking event within the frame of the biggest international fair for food and drinks Anuga Trade Fair. The business cooperaton meetings will be held on 6-8 october 2013 in Cologne, Germany.

» Ninth National Innovation Forum, 5 December 2013, Sofia, On December 5th, 2013, Applied Research and Communications Fund, Еnterprise Europe Network – Bulgaria with the support of the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Medical Association organised the Ninth National Innovation Forum "Innovation and Sectoral Competitiveness". During the Forum, the President of Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev awarded the finalists in the National Contest for Innovative Enterprise of the Year.

» ERA progress report: 'single market' for research closer, not yet a reality, The European Commission has presented a first comprehensive analysis of the state of the 'single market' for research, or the European Research Area (ERA). The report provides a factual base for assessing progress in target areas like open and fair recruitment of researchers or better circulation of scientific knowledge. It shows that some progress has been made, but that even the best performing research institutions still have issues to address ahead of the 2014 deadline for ERA, as set by EU leaders.

» Fight against fraud: new study confirms billions lost in VAT Gap , An estimated ?193 billion in VAT revenues (1.5% of GDP) was lost due to non-compliance or non-collection in 2011, according to a new study on the VAT Gap in Member States. The study was funded by Commission as part of its work to reform the VAT system in Europe, as well as its wider campaign to clamp down on tax evasion. The study sets out detailed data on the gap between the amount of VAT due and the amount actually collected in 26 Member States between2000-2011.
