» Information Meeting of Bulgarian SOLVIT center with business representatives, 13 September 2013, Sofia , On 13 September the Bulgarian SOLVIT center organizes information meeting with business representatives, to promote the opportunities of SOLVIT network to resolve cross-border issues for companies of a Member State as a result of the misapplication of internal market rules by the national authorities of another Member State of the European Union. The event will be held at the Best Western hotel on 6 Stara Planina Str. from 9:30 to 12:00 h.

» European Commission seeks "Capital of Innovation", The European Commission has started the search for the first European Capital of Innovation, or iCapital. The prize will reward the city which is building the best “innovation ecosystem”, connecting citizens, public organisations, academia, and business. Given that 68% of the EU population now lives in urban areas, it is these areas that will contribute the most to making Europe more innovative.

» Europeans seek ever more mobile bandwidth, but they worry about cost, Europeans are increasingly eager for new technologies as shown by the latest EU-wide survey. While Europeans are open to the opportunities offered by new tools & services, as illustrated by the figures for new internet subscriptions and use of the internet for making voice calls, they still think twice before picking up the phone or going online because of the cost of these services.

» International Training for Horizon 2020 Newcomers organised by “Fit for Health”, 5 September 2013, Bucharest, “Fit for Health”, a European initiative supporting researchers in all stages of Health research and results valorisation, is organising a free of charge full-day international training addressing newcomers to the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020.

» Environment: Urban wastewater trends moving in the right direction , The latest figures for wastewater treatment in Europe show improvements in collection and treatment, even if big differences remain between Member States. Frontrunners such as Austria, Germany and the Netherlands largely meet EU minimum standards for wastewater treatment with several others being very close. Newer Member States, starting from a lower baseline, have also improved overall collection and treatment, despite lower compliance rates. This progress comes with significant EU investment support, amounting to EUR 14.3 billion between 2007-2013.

» New rules on Payment Services for the benefit of consumers and retailers, In order to adapt EU payments market to the opportunities of the single market and to support the growth of the EU economy, the European Commission adopted today a package including:

A new payment Services Directive ("PSD2")
A proposal for regulation on interchange fees for card-based payment transactions

» 6th seminar in support of entrepreneurship "Models for business cooperation and networking", 11 July 2013, Sofia, Enterprise Europe Network at Applied Research and Communications Fund invited companies and organisations on a half-day seminar "Models for business cooperation and networking", held on 11th July on 5, Alexander Zhendov str., Sofia. This workshop was part of the series of seminars in support of entrepreneurship, organized by Enterprise Europe Network-Bulgaria and partners in 2013.

» Helping businesses to access EU finance: single portal now includes Structural Funds , From June 25th, businesses around Europe will have easier access to much needed finance as the European Commission expands the single portal on EU finance, to include EU Structural Funds: the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF). Launched last month, the new single portal on EU finance provides easy, complete and up-to-date information on how entrepreneurs and SMEs can access over ?100 billion of EU financing from various 2007-2013 programmes.

» Moving Europe beyond the crisis: country-specific recommendations 2013 , On May 29th, 2013, The European Commission adopted recommendations to EU Member States designed to move Europe beyond the crisis and strengthen the foundations for growth. These recommendations are based on detailed analyses of each country's situation and provide guidance to governments on how to boost their growth potential, increase competitiveness and create jobs in 2013-2014. Taken together, they represent an ambitious set of reforms for the EU economy. As part of today's package, which marks the culmination of the third European Semester of policy coordination, the Commission has also adopted several decisions under the Excessive Deficit Procedure.
