» Urban Youth Fest for Safer Internet in Sofia, Several official institutions and non-governmental organizations, ARC Fund among the others, joined efforts in organizing a summer event for children and teenagers under the Safer Internet campaign of the Bulgarian Hotline against illegal and harmful content in Internet, operated by ARC Fund. The event was opened by the Deputy Prime-minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ivaylo Kalfin, the Chairman of the State Agency for Information Technology and Communications Mr. Plamen Vachkov and the Deputy-Chairman of the State Agency for Youth and Sports Mr. Mihail Balabanov.

» ARC Fund Awarded Best National Performer in FP6, ARC Fund has received a Crystal Prize for its outstanding performance in the Sixth Framework Programme of the EU for Research and Technological Development. ARC Fund was awarded the most successful Bulgarian non-governmental organizations participating in FP6 by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Science of Bulgaria, Mr. Daniel Vulchev. The award was presented to ARC Fund’s Executive Director, Mr. Nikolay Badinski, during a two-day conference dedicated to the start of the new Seventh Framework Programme, which took place in Sofia on January 31st - February 1st, 2007.

» Third National Innovation Forum , The 3rd National Innovation Forum took place in Sofia (Sheraton Hotel Balkan) on December 19th, 2006. The 3rd NIF sought to review and analyze the latest developments in Bulgaria’s innovation environment with a view to the upcoming EU accession. The Forum aimed to present the major opportunities and challenges to the innovation performance of Bulgaria’s economy as part of the EU market and propose a dynamic platform for exchange of opinions and good practices at EU, national, regional, sectoral and company levels which will enhance Bulgaria’s innovativeness and competitiveness.

» ARC Fund Released its e-Bulgaria 2006 Report, ARC Fund has released its latest e-Bulgaria 2006 Report which analyzes the progress in ICT infrastructure deployment in the country, as well as the penetration and use of internet and ICT-related services in Bulgarian households, enterprises, schools, universities and government institutions over this year. The report presents a wealth of empirical and qualitative data, synthetic indicators, trend analysis and projections, policy options and recommendations for the future development of information society in the country.

» Bulgarian Internet Community Meets Google Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist Dr. Vint Cerf, On July 5th ARC Fund hosted a meeting with Dr. Vint Cerf, Vice President and chief Internet evangelist for Google, and Ms. Esther Dyson, author of the book Release 2.0. The event was organized as part of the program of a high-level international delegation of IT experts visiting Bulgaria, who met key players in the country's Internet and ICT community.

» Safer Internet Conference in Bulgaria, A conference on “Safer Use of Internet by Children” was organized by ARC Fund on June 28, 2006 in Sofia, with the support of the Council of Europe’s Information Centre and under the auspices of the Public Council on Safer Internet. The conference is part of ARC Fund’s efforts to fight the distribution of harmful and illegal online content on Bulgarian websites, which is the main objective of a EU supported project under the Safer Internet Program launched in August 2005.

» Release of Innovation.bg Report, ARC Fund's Innovation.bg Report tracks the innovative performance and potential of the Bulgarian economy on an annual basis. This year's report findings highlight the low innovative performance of the economy in terms of new product development and patent grants, which it attributes partly to the low-tech character of the Bulgarian manufacturing sector and partly to the underdeveloped innovation system in the country and the inadequate, highly departmentalized government policy in this respect.

» e-Municipality Report Out of Print, The e-Municipality Report 2005 has been released this week, as a jointly sponsored product of ARC Fund and the government’s Coordination Center on Information, Communication and Management Technologies (CCIT). The report is the second edition after a pilot study conducted in 2004 which assessed the online presence of Bulgarian municipalities and the extent to which they provide certain e-government services. The baseline study was sponsored by UNDP-Bulgaria.

» Second National Innovation Forum Takes Place in Sofia October 25, 2005 , ARC Fund organized the Second National Innovation Forum at the Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan on October 25th, 2005. The event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and the World Bank Sofia Mission, with the support of DG Enterprise of the European Commission, the Austrian Embassy in Sofia, the EPIQ Electronic Assembly company and the Center for the Study of Democracy. The Forum was held under the patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Georgi Parvanov.

» ARC Fund to implement a Safer Internet Hotline, As of August 1st, 2005 ARC Fund has officially started a project to establish a national hotline under the EU Safer Internet Program. The Internet hotline – abbreviated as SAFE-NET BG – will become member of the European network of hotlines supported by the European Commission. Hotlines allow members of the public to report illegal content on the Internet. The hotlines then deal with the reports by passing them on to the appropriate body.
