» e-Bulgaria 2005 Report Release, ARC Fund has released its latest e-Bulgaria 2005 Report which analyzes the progress in ICT infrastructure deployment in the country, as well as the penetration and use of Internet and ICT-related services in Bulgarian households, enterprises, schools, universities and government institutions over this year. The report presents a wealth of empirical and qualitative data, synthetic indicators, trend analysis and projections, policy options and recommendations for the future development of information society in the country.

» Regional Innovation Policy Initiative for the South-West Planning Region of Bulgaria, ARC Fund has recently laucnhed a new initiative titled Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS) for the South West Region of Bulgaria: Bridging the Innovation Disparities Between the Capital Sofia and the Rest of the Region, which is supported by the European Commission’s 6th Framework Program. Its objective is to enhance the economic growth potential of the South-West planning region of Bulgaria.

» E-Democracy 2017: An Essay Writing Contest Launched by Bulgaria Development Gateway, The Bulgaria Development Gateway has awarded the winning prizes in its second online essay writing contest dedicated to the topic of “E-Democracy 2017: Challenges to Political Parties and Civil Society”. The contest was organized jointly with the Coordination Center on ICT and the Information Centre of the Council of Europe in Sofia, and took place under the auspices of the Minister of Public Administration, Mr. Dimitar Kalchev.

» International Training Seminar on the IST Priority of the 6th Framework Programme, On April 5-6 2005 in Sofia the Information Society and Media Directorate General of the European Commission (EC) and the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport and Communications jointly organized a training seminar on “The Project Cycle: Technological, Administrative, Financial and Juridical Aspects of the FP6/IST Projects Preparation and Completion”. ARC Fund was one of the co-organizers of this event.

» The 4th World Bank Knowledge Economy Forum Looked at the "Business Environment and Knowledge for Private Sector Growth" , The fourth annual Knowledge Economy Forum was organized by the World Bank and the Government of Turkey in Istanbul from March 22-24, 2005. The theme of this year’s forum was "Business Environment and Knowledge for Private Sector Growth". The Forum continued a succession of events held in Paris (in 2002), Helsinki (in 2003) and Budapest (in 2004). Bulgaria was represented at the Istanbul Forum by a delegation of government officials and representatives of the private and NGO sectors.

» ARC Fund Contributes to the President’s Report on Bulgaria 2010, On January 23, 2005 the President of Bulgaria hosted a round table for the launch of the Bulgaria 2010 report – an overview of the economic challenges facing Bulgaria beyond its EU accession. ARC Fund representatives coordinated to the analyses of innovation and information society issues as key pillars of the knowledge economy which Bulgaria is striving to build.
The report, which was commissioned by the President in early 2003, highlightes the need for expanding the economic policy horizons beyond Bulgaria’s EU accession expected in 2007.

» ARC Fund Releases its Assessment of e-Municipality Websites, ARC Fund has published a study on municipal websites carried out with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bulgaria. The study looks at the availability and quality of a total of 125 municipal websites in an attempt to determine the level of local e-government development in the country and identify positive examples which can be transferred as best practice to other municipalities.

» National Innovation Forum 2004 , On 22 October in Sofia ARC Fund organized the first National Innovation Forum. This forum was the first in a series of annual events, and it aimed to provide a platform for cooperation between the government, businesses and research organizations and served as an open mechanism for benchmarking the local innovation knowledge and expertise with the European and international best practice. The forum was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Georgi Parvanov.

» Release of e-Bulgaria Report 2004, ARC Fund has released its latest e-Bulgaria Report 2004. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of the country’s state of preparedness for the Information Society (e-readiness) over the period 2002-2004. It traces the progress in ICT infrastructure deployment and the availability and use of Internet and ICT-related services in Bulgarian society, economy, government and education.

» Regional Innovation Strategy, ARC Fund has coordinated the development of a Regional Innovation Strategy and Action Plan for the South Central Region of Bulgaria. The two documents are the major outputs of a 32-month project funded by the European Commission’s DG Enterprise.
Based on a SWOT analysis, the strategy recommends a series of measures to improve the operation of the innovation system and encourage the development of innovation in the region. It identifies three strategic priorities for the region: Enhancing SMEs’ competitiveness through innovation; Improving the innovation awareness and innovation culture in the region, and Strengthening the existing regional innovation system.
