The reader is the latest edition of anti-corruption
series of Coalition 2000 to which CSD serves as Secretariat.
The reader is published by one of the Coalition 2000's
founding organizations - Applied Research and Communication Fund.
The report presents key findings about the level of corruption and corruption related perceptions. The analysis is based on random sample (n=560) survey of the Bulgarian state and private companies owners and/or managers and also includes previous Vitosha Research survey data.
This is the latest joint publication
of CiviLink Foundation and Coalition 2000, dedicated to problems
which investigative journalists face, while revealing corruption
cases and affairs.
In the period September 16-26, 2000 Vitosha Research conducted its regular survey on corruption among the Bulgarian population. This study is part of the Corruption Monitoring System of Coalition 2000.
Combating Corruption and Fraud in the Public Administration is titled the new anticorruption reader of Coalition 2000's series, called Clear Future. It addresses wide range of readers - civil servants, representatives of legislative and judiciary, students, academicians and NGOs, which contribute in overcoming the corruption problem in Bulgarian society.
Counteracting the Corruption in Local
Authoritiesis published by ACCESS Association, partner
of Coalition 2000. The reader contains Bulgarian experts'
analysis with practical data about the legislative framework of
local self-government, the opportunities of direct and indirect
civic involvement, new forms of civic control applied in
municipalities in local issues decision-making and combating
corruption.
In 2000 Bulgaria conducted a survey of crime victims among the population and business people on the initiative of the Turin-based UN Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), using its methods (the ICVS 2000 and ICBS 2000 questionnaires, face-to-face interviews). The survey was carried out in Sofia. Overall, 1,505 people were willing to participate out of a sample of 1,700, and 532 business people out of a sample of 550. Data collection and processing was assigned to Vitosha Research, a joint contractor of Gallup Hungary. Dr Boyan Stankov was national coordinator of the survey.

Since the end of 1999 Vitosha Research with the Center for the Study of Democracy and Freedom House foundation, has been working on an international project entitled Accountable Government: Self and Public Perception. Activities under this initiative included the conducting of sociological surveys in Romania, Slovakia, and Bulgaria. Fieldwork was conducted in the period March 23 - April 15, 2000.
On October 23, 2000, Civil Link Foundation
and the Union of Bulgarian Journalists co-organized a journalists
seminar "Investigative Journalism Against Corruption: the New
Bulgarian and European Legislature" in Plovdiv within the framework of
Coalition 2000 anti-corruption projects.
Mr. Georgi Boyadzhiev, attorney at law, presented
the new publication of Civil Link Foundation/Coalition 2000
- "Corruption in a 100 Answers" Manual.
