The rapid development of technology and the opening of the global markets have changed every aspect of the modern economy. Today's economy is about knowledge - how it is produced, stored, shared and invested. The development of the knowledge economy and knowledge society places new opportunities and challenges to policy communities across the world, in Europe and in Bulgaria. ARC Fund aims to lead and support Bulgaria's transition to a knowledge-based economy. Its knowledge and expertise in the key-to-growth issues of ICT, innovation, technology transfer and foresight, coupled with work and insights in Bulgarian governance and economic mechanisms position the organization uniquely in this process. ARC Fund has pioneered the promotion of the knowledge economy concept and the creation of a knowledge community in the country - the first steps to knowledgeable transition. The success of the transformation depends on the networked efforts of policy makers, think-tanks, academics, the business community and other stakeholders. To foster the clustering of expertise and resources on knowledge economy ARC Fund has created the Knowledge Economy Portal at the Bulgaria Development Gateway.
